Antique Lions of Spirits is a brand new collaboration between three experienced whisky enthusiasts with many years in the industry, and is also a tribute to the legendary Italian bottler Moon Import.
Max Righi, the man behind Silver Seal Whisky Company, Diego Sandrin of Lions Whisky, whose store and private collection can best be described as a whisky museum, as well as Jens Drewitz, who is behind the German bottler Zanzibar, have entered into a collaboration called Antique Lions of Spirits.
Their first batch of single cask bottlings has just come on the market, and is a tribute to a number of legendary bottles called "Birds", bottled in 1988 by Italian Moon Import. Moon Import bottled godlike whisky before the rest of the world caught the eye of single malt, and was in the same league as the Samaroli and Sestante. The "Birds" series was a stroke of genius as it combined beautiful and original design with whisky of the highest carat, and it is with the same approach that the three gentlemen from Antique Lions of Spirits launch their first series.
The bottles, apart from one, are all from 1988 when Moon Import released "Birds". "Birds" had its world premiere at Glasgow's Whisky Festival 2017 in January, and was one of the major additions. Many of the bottles were sold on the very day of the premiere, so it is with great pleasure and pride that CRT Spirits succeeded in acquiring a few bottles in our good collaboration with the Silver Seal Whiskey Company. We welcome the new collaboration with Antique Lions of Spirits, and we are pleased to introduce these wonders to the Danish market.
