Winemaker, Alain Pailley has worked in-house for champagne house Alexandre Bonnet for more than 30 years, and has now selected three exceptional vintage vintages that show the quality of the champagne produced on site. There are three historically good years in Champagne: 1995, 1990 and 1985.
Almost half of the Champagne region was affected by frost in April 1990. The low temperatures found in the spring affected the flowering of the vines which was greatly prolonged. Still, they got a hot and dry summer that year, which made the grapes develop and grow very large. The rain that came in September was welcomed as it helped the ripening process of the grapes on the way. 1990 is a first-class vintage and in the top-10 of the last century. Today, the champagnes from that year show a beautiful body, and incredible depth with fruity notes, while still possessing finesse.
There are only 50 magnum bottles from this vintage. This is vintage champagne at a high, high level!
