Glen Moray started life as a brewery back in 1828, but was transformed into a distillery in 1897. However, the distillery closed in 1910, but was reopend in 1923 and has, accept for a few years, continuously produced a soft and delightful Speyside whisky. Much of this whisky ends up in blends and in the official bottles, but Glen Moray is also recognized for producing whisky, where the independent bottlers get quality for relatively little money.
The distillery is located on the banks of the River Lossie in the town of Elgin, the capital of Speyside - the Scottish whisky region that has the most distilleries.
The Old Friends Whiskey Glen Moray 11 Years was distilled back in 2007 and bottled at 57.9% in 2019. The whisky has been aged for 11 years on a first fill Chateau Payerne red wine cask.
