Founded in 1891, Craigellachie is one of the few distilleries founded in the 19th century that has survived to this day. The city from which the distillery is named is located in the heart of Speyside, where the Spey and Fiddich rivers meet, and is named after the rock on which the village is founded. Craigellachie is Gaelic for "rocky hill".
Craigellachie is an important component of the popular blends of Dewar's and there are few official bottlings. Fortunately, in recent years, independent bottlers have become aware of the tasteful whisky created here, and Craigellachie can be considered a reliable Speyside style representative.
The Old Friends Whisky Craigellachie 11 Years was distilled back in 2007 and has been bottled at 58.8% in 2019. The whisky has been aged for 11 years on a first fill Amarone wine barrel.
