This Pluscarden Valley, better known under the name Miltonduff, is 21 years old and distilled in 1994. Few know about Miltonduff, which is actually one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. Miltonduff was originally an illegal "farm distiller" called Milton, after which "Duff" was added when it obtained its license in 1824.
As a distillery that mostly supplies whisky to major brands, the official Miltonduff range have been rare to non-existent. However, there are a number of independent bottlers who have released various expressions in recent years, including this Silver Seal bottling.
Whisky writer Michael Jackson describes the Miltonduff style as floral, clean, firm and elegant. With 46.7% alcohol, this single cask whiskey has only been dropped in 550 copies.
