This rum is a single cask bottling and is therefore only produced in a very small amount. The rum has spent 20 years on an oak barrel and is bottled at cask strength of 48.8% alcohol. Distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2018.
In Guyana, South America, you will find a concoction of distillers. Today, there is only one distillery, the Diamond Distillery, but at the Diamond Distillery there are a number of old and legendary stills that have previously been on other plantations around Guyana. Before Uitvlugt Distillery closed in 2000 and then moved to Diamond, this single cask rum in 1998 was distilled on the original plantation. The cask was moved to England where it has been bottled 20 years later.
It is a molasses-based, column-distilled rum bottled at 48.8% alcohol. In the fragrance there are classic demerara notes such as brown sugar, orange peel, toffee and deep impressions. The taste is fresh with pepper, lemon and green pepper. A super delicate and elegant rum with a fabulous and long finish.
