In the lighter and more sweet end of the Silver Seal series you get here a soft and friendly rum from Panama, bottled at 46% alcohol. If you have never tried rum from Silver Seal before, this might be a good place to start, since the rum here is considerably more accessible than the remaining rums in the series - tastewise.
Panama is known to make molasses-based continuous distillation rums, after which the distillates are stored on used oak barrels previously used in the bourbon industry. The classic flavors emanate from the light distillate and bear the distinctive character of citrus. Once the rum has matured, the citrus notes will be transformed into an orange peel like flavor note. The cask also adds a taste of vanilla, cream caramel and a light coconut. If you choose to store the rum extra long, as in this case, a note of bitter chocolate develops and the taste of oak begins to be more prominent.
Silver Seal has selected this rum, as it has developed quite extraordinarily. The rum was distilled back in 2001 and 16 years later, in 2017 the cask was bottled.
