If you like a high-ester rum in the Jamaican style then this is just for you. Rums from Hampden Distillery are known as some of the best rums in the world. The rum is the result of a molasses-based fermentation as well as a distillation on pot stills - this is a pure single Jamaican rum.
The old Hampden Distillery is by far the distillery in Jamaica that produces the most aromatic type. Their rums are produced exclusively on unique pot stills from molasses-based "muck" fermentation. Muck is taken from so-called "muck holes" and these containers act as biological reactors and produce acids that help the fermentation to produce many different ester compounds during fermentation. So you take muck from the previously mentioned muck holes, and add to the fermentation to increase the development of taste during the fermentation process. This process is unique to the production of the Hampden Distillery, and is the key to Hampden's well-known taste profile. It creates an extremely fruity scent and flavor that is unique in the rum world.
With an alcohol content of 51%, this is a bottling that appeals to the many Hampden fans out there. It is a pure single rum at its best - full flavored and crazy charming!
The rum was distilled back in 2000 and 16 years later, in 2017 the cask was bottled. There are only 229 bottles of this unique rum - a great rum for the connoisseurs.
