In 2000, the former Dutch owned Uitvlugt Distillery closed, but the still was moved to Diamond Distillery in Georgetown, leaving one remaining distillery in Guyana. Port Mourant Still who had previously been adopted from the disused Port Mourant plantation was also moved from the Uitvlugt Distillery. Since the rum was distilled in 1998, this rum is actually produced on the original plantation before it closed down two years later. History in a bottle!
This single cask rum was distilled and set aside right back in 1998 and in 2017 the cask was found. The rum is bottled by 52.1% alcohol and there are only 242 bottles of this 19-year-old rum on the whole world market. An incredible rarity for connoisseurs and collectors.
