This dark rum is stored for 12 years solera. The Solera method is originally a method used in the storage and mixing of sherry, which ensures a consistent quality of the final blend. In short, the method involves mixing young rums with older rums, whereby the young rum occupies some of the older rum's character and the maturation process is increased. The legislation on the age rating of solera rums differs from country to country, in the Dominican Republic the rule is that at least 15% of the contents of the bottle must be stored for the time mentioned on the label of the bottle. So there is at least 15% rum, which is stocked for 12 years in a bottle of Cubanacan Reserva Familiar 12 años, which means that it is a dark and rounded drink, which smells of dark brown sugar, oak and vanilla. The taste has a rosin sweetness, which harmoniously interacts with notes of oak, spices and a hint of caramel.
The festive labels of the Cubanacan bottles may be misleading from the fact that this is a very serious quality spirits that should be enjoyed cleanly.
