This rum is a 50th anniversary rum made in a limited edition of 3000 numbered bottles, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Oliver's family (the producer) the immigration to the Dominican Republic from Cuba. Like most rums from the Dominican Republic's top producer Oliver & Oliver, this rum is composed of a blend of younger and older distillates, which are mixed with a mother rum of 25 years before being matured. The rum is solar aged for 25-30 years, after which it is finished for 3-6 months in ex port caskes from Graham's.
It won double gold at the Madrid Rum Congress in 2013. It really is a complex taste experience. The deep dark almost reddish color have a scent of ripe fruit, vanilla, tobacco and a very fine and subtle aroma of smoke. The taste opens up with an instant sweet and delicious caramel flavour that slowly plays along with notes of oak, roasted apple and mocha. The port cask gives the rum it's sweetness and obesity a counterpart of fruity, dryness and oak, which gives the Puntacana Club XOX 50 Aniversario an unmatched balance and character.
