Don Papa Rare Cask is distilled on Philippine sugar cane and bottled by beautiful 50.5% alcohol. Each barrel is hand-picked by Don Papas Master Distiller and bottled at a relatively high alcohol content. Rare Cask has been aged for 5 years on the island of Negros, in the Philippines in burnt American oak barrels.
The rum is rich and powerful on the nose, but soft and fruity in the mouth, with a long and fresh aftertaste. The taste offers rich complexity with oak, cocoa and fruit cake notes, ending with a touch of fresh mint. For those who know and love Don Papa Rum for their sweet, vanilla and orange flavor, this version goes in a completely different direction. Don Papa Rare Cask is far more dry and at the same time gives associations with the rum from the beloved, but closed Caroni Distillery in Trinidad. Don Papa Rare Cask is launched to showcase La Tondeña Distilleria as a rum producer.
Don Papa Rum Rare Cask joins the Don Papa portfolio, which already includes the original Don Papa Small Batch Rum and Don Papa 10 Years Old Rum Limited Edition.
This Rare Cask edition is only produced in a very limited edition that includes 6,000 numbered bottles globally. The rum comes in a very luxurious wooden box with many beautiful details that refer to Don Papa's home island, as well as Papa Isio, the local revolutionary who inspired the creation of the rum series.
