The Don Papa 10 Years Old Rum is a special limited edition rum produced on the same sugar cane used for the production of the seven-year-old Don Papa Rum. With this rum you get longer maturation time in the burnt American oak barrels. It gives a darker, deeper and richer flavor, as well as oak, cocoa and dried fruit notes, still with the prominent caramel and vanilla. There are a lot of subtle notes that help make this rum more complex than the normal Don Papa Rum. You also get a higher alcohol strength which here is 43%.
The creation of the Don Papa Rum is inspired by the story of Dionisio Magbuelas, also known as "Papa Isio", one of the forgotten heroes of the Philippine Revolution. Before the revolution of the 19th century, Papa Isio worked with the production of sugar cane. Together with his group of resistance people, Papa Isio played a central role in the liberation of the island of Negros from the Spanish colonial power. Don Papa Rum is today produced at Negros and is what you call a Single Island Rum.
